Will using a GIF signature affect my email deliverability?

We have tested this tool rigorously to ensure that your email delivery is not affected. In fact, Bonjoro video emails themselves have been sent with animated GIFs by default since 2018 (because they boost your video watch rates) and we have seen no adverse effects on overall delivery rates.

However there are some cases where GIFs and images in emails may affect delivery - this is not unique to our GIF signatures, but we felt it would be helpful to explain them here:

Microsoft Outlook:

Microsoft Outlook does not block emails with animated GIFs in general. However, the way an email is displayed in Outlook can depend on various factors such as the version of Outlook being used, the email client settings, and the security policies in place for that organization.

In some cases, Outlook may not display the animated GIFs properly or may disable them by default for security reasons. This is pertinent to any email containing images or animated GIFs and is not unique to our tool.

Corporate Firewalls:

Some corporate firewalls may block emails with images or attachments for security reasons. This is because images and attachments can contain malicious code or viruses that can compromise the security of the company's network or devices.

To prevent these threats, corporate firewalls may be configured to block emails with certain file types or attachments, including images, videos, GIFs, executable files, and compressed files. This can be done through various security measures, such as email filtering, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.

In addition, some corporate firewalls may also block emails that contain large images or attachments to prevent network congestion and ensure optimal network performance.

Email image blocking:

A big part of the email delivery lottery is about email image blocking. This is when an email client like Outlook either blocks your email due to images, or merely blocks the images in that email from appearing. Of course, this applies to GIFs too.

There is a super useful and detailed article about this here, but the TLDR is this; the majority of email clients, with the exception of some Outlook versions and AOL, show images by default. The exceptions are shown in this table with a red X.

Is this tool really free?

Yes, we won’t ask for your email address, and you can use this tool for free as many times as you like.

Our job is to create great tools to help every business in the world get better results from their emails, and generate amazing customer relationships along the way. Some of our products are paid for, but this one is free because it helps us create some buzz for what we do here.

Don’t forget to share it with your friends and colleagues!

Can I create a GIF signature on my phone?

No, this tool is desktop only for now.

N.B. Your video signature will work in any email you send, whether that’s opened on a mobile phone, or desktop device. We just didn’t have the time or money to build a mobile creator this time.

What is Bonjoro all about then?

Bonjoro is a video platform used by over 50,000 businesses around the world to convert more sales and build amazing customer relationships. You can learn more about it right here.
